This document is the result of a thorough revision of a previous ORGALIME publication the title of which was : "Guide for drawing up an international research and development contract" edited in 1981, and reprinted in 1983.

While revising the previous guide, the Legal Working Group of Orgalime came to the conclusion that the guide itself contained little that was applicable to research activities themselves.

The guide explains, with the help of a checklist and a Specimen Contract, the main elements of a development contract, and treats the problems usually encountered with examples of how those problems can be resolved in practice.
