Energy and EHS Department

Executive Director Trygve Østmo heads the Environment and Health & Safety Department. The Federation of Norwegian Industries works to ensure that companies shall maintain high standards in health and safety and in environmental matters, and create an inclusive workplace, in line with the IW agreement that parties in industry have entered into with the authorities. Inclusive Workplace activities involve systematic work to promote well-being, a sense of responsibility and a perception of ownership in Norwegian industrial companies.

The department also works on issues relating to Norwegian and European climate and energy policy. It is the Federation of Norwegian Industries’ ambition here to introduce and develop instruments that we know are effective in achieving the desired effect on the environment. It is important in this area too that Norway should have rules that are in accordance with corresponding rules in our competitor countries.

In addition to maintaining good relations with our environmental authorities at home, we are continually developing our international network, so as to ensure that the  Federation of Norwegian Industries has the necessary information about and influence on relevant issues.

The Federation is also engaged on work to formulate and adapt EU regulations on the environment for Norwegian industrial companies’ actual situation.
